Matt Moreland is currently the Supervisory Meteorologist at the National Weather Service San Diego office, and have been in this new role since October 2017. Prior to this position, I served as supervisor at the NWS Office in Key West from April 2015 through September 2017. My last month there was Hurricane Irma, where I worked 28 days in a row then happily drove cross-country to California :). Prior to these positions, I was an Emergency Response Specialist at the NWS New Orleans/Baton Rouge office for 3 1/2 years, and a forecaster at the NWS Houston/Galveston office for almost 14 years. I’m best known in my career for working hurricanes (Rita, Ike, Isaac are some examples), but I came out here to “mostly” escape them. My hometown is Houston, Texas and I am a graduate of the University of Oklahoma. I am a four year Rotarian: first at the Key West Sunrise Rotary Club and now at San Diego Downtown Breakfast Club. My main hobbies are running and travel.
