Diana Graber –  Co-Founder, CyberWise; Founder, Cyber Civics

 

Author of the forthcoming book: “CYBERCIVICS: A Parent’s Guide to Helping Kids Build a Healthy Relationship with Technology”

 

Graber is an expert on digital literacy. She writes for, is interviewed by, and appears often in the press on topics related to how technology impacts human behavior. Her no-nonsense approach comes from being an educator, media producer, academic, and most of all, a mom.

 

As Adjunct Faculty of the Media Psychology M.A. program at the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology (MSPP), she taught “Media Psychology for the 21st Century.” She also developed and teaches a middle-school digital literacy program called Cyber Civics, currently being taught in schools in 31 US states and internationally. Her paper, New Media Literacies: A Developmental Approach, is published in the Journal of Media Literacy Education (JMLE) and she is aregular contributor to HuffPost and many othersHer book, “CYBERCIVICS: A Parent’s Guide to Helping Kids Build a Healthy Relationship with Technology” will be published by AMACOM (World Rights) in early 2019.

She was a finalist for the NAMLE Research Emerging Scholar Award in 2011. Her Cyber Civics program has been recognized as an “Innovation in Education” finalist by Project Tomorrow and the O.C. Tech Alliance. She was recently honored with the “2017 Media Literacy Teacher” Award from the National Association of Media Literacy Education (NAMLE).  She resides with her husband and two “digital native” daughters in Capistrano Beach, CA. She can often be found on her mountain bike via her favorite app, Strava.

 

Graber has a B.A. in Communication Studies fro UCLA and an M.A. in Media Psychology and Social Change from Fielding Graduate University.
