Philip Roeder is a professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of California, San Diego. He completed his Bachelor’s degree at UCLA and his Ph.D. at Harvard University. Trained as a Sovietologist, Professor Roeder has published books on Kremlin politics and the failure of the Soviet state, the incomplete transition to democracy, and national secessionist conflicts in Russia and the other Soviet successor states.
